When the cathedral doors are locked and the last footsteps fade away, a gentle melody begins to echo beneath the vaulted roof. High in the organ loft, the Church Mouse takes his place at the keys, filling the stillness with music meant only for the shadows and the stone.
The Church Mouse Playing the Organ is a devoted and quietly joyful character. Perched at the great instrument, he practises long after the congregation has gone, letting hymns and melodies wander through the darkened aisles. Though music lifts his spirits, life within the cathedral remains a hard one, and he dreams of a warmer home and kinder days.
Each Church Mouse is cast in resin from a mould taken directly from the original hand-carved sculpture. They are not wooden carvings, though their carefully finished surface reflects the warmth and character of aged oak. Produced in small batches with great care and attention to detail, some pieces are made to order, so please allow 3–4 days before dispatch.
