Highlander

Meet the Highlander: Somewhere in the heart of England, within one of the great medieval cathedrals of this land, there are ancient choir stalls. Beneath one of the misericord seats is a small crack and a little hole, and it is here that the church mouse lives. Today, he has chosen to dress as a proud Scottish Highlander.

On goes the pom‑pom hat, the tartan kilt and, most importantly, his sporran, and off he goes for a grand adventure. Though known generally as
The Highlander, his real name is Donald McSporran. He has travelled to the Isle of Skye to visit his cousin Dougal. As everyone knows, it can be
a very windy island and, in his haste, Donald forgot his trousers! Never mind – he still had a fine time, especially after a visit to the Talisker Distillery, where a few whiskies were enjoyed before joining in a lively ceilidh.

Despite his adventures, when a new day dawns and the cathedral reopens for daily services, it is back to his little hole beneath the choir stalls and a small bite to eat. He is, after all, still a church mouse – hard done by, living quietly within the cathedral and hoping for better things in life and a new home away from the stone walls. He prays for your help. Could you be his saviour and new keeper?

Each Church Mouse is cast in resin from a mould taken directly from the original hand-carved sculpture. They are not wooden carvings, though their carefully finished surface reflects the warmth and character of aged oak. Produced in small batches with great care and attention to detail, some pieces are made to order, so please allow 3–4 days before dispatch
