This piece captures a wonderfully indulgent moment. Known affectionately as the Sleeping Mouse, he has stumbled upon a generous wedge of cheese and, unable to resist temptation, has eaten far more than he should. Completely content and utterly full, he has fallen fast asleep atop his prize, dreaming sweet mousey dreams.
Sadly, his peaceful slumber leaves him rather exposed to the ever‑watchful Church Cat, who not only enjoys cheese but has an even greater fondness for catching mice. Hard done by and hoping for better fortunes, this little mouse quietly prays for a kinder fate and a safe new home away from the cathedral.
Each Church Mouse is cast in resin from a mould taken directly from the original hand-carved sculpture. They are not wooden carvings, though their carefully finished surface reflects the warmth and character of aged oak. Produced in small batches with great care and attention to detail, some pieces are made to order, so please allow 3–4 days before dispatch.
